About

A safe space to reprocess what still hurts.

I'm Ricardo Sotres, an LCPC psychotherapist with more than eight years of clinical experience specializing in EMDR and trauma. I've worked extensively in English with people carrying anxiety, grief, and memories that never quite closed, along with the patterns they built to survive them.

My approach combines clinical rigor with warm, judgment-free support, so your nervous system can do what it always knew how to do: heal.

What is EMDR?

Your brain knows how to heal. Sometimes it just needs help to process again.

When we go through something overwhelming, the brain can lock the memory away with all its original emotions, sounds, and images. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to reactivate that natural processing, without you having to relive the event over and over in session.

Desensitize

The memory stops hurting in the body. The load of anxiety or panic decreases.

Reprocess

Your brain integrates the experience: it moves from "this is happening now" "this was part of my story, but it's over now".

Frequently asked questions

Let's clear up your questions

What is EMDR?+

It's an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories. When we experience something traumatic, the brain gets overwhelmed and locks the memory away with all its original emotions, sounds, and images; EMDR lets it finally integrate that memory.

How do I know if I need therapy?+

If a memory, an emotion, or a pattern keeps affecting your present, it's worth talking about. In a first session we can assess together whether EMDR or another approach is a good fit for you.

Are sessions online or in person?+

Both. You can choose whichever feels most comfortable; the care and presence are the same either way.

What language are sessions in?+

I offer therapy in both English and Spanish. You choose the language you feel most comfortable working in.

How long does the process take?+

It depends on each person and what you want to work on. We set clear goals from the start and always move at your pace.

Book a session

The first step isn't to heal everything today. It's to stop doing it alone.
